The two days closure of compressed natural gas (CNG) stations created lot of problems for commuters as public transporters withdrew large number of busses and mini buses while taxies demanded high fares. Normally under SSGC load management programme, CNG stations remain open on Saturday but the CNG stations in the city remained closed on Friday and Saturday in a row.

Almost 100 percent of all public transport minibuses in Karachi have been converted on CNG. Karachi is the economic hub of the country where the worsening transport system has become a curse for the people and is also affecting the business community.
